Local Missions

The Arkansas Valley Mission provides care and help tor those who struggle in our community. They provide groceries and a client pantry employment resources, health care references, prescription co-pay assistance, and fuel vouchers in emergencies. The Mission also provides lunches on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday, from 11 am - 1 pm, and Friday night dinners as scheduled.
The Mission is board led and volunteer run.

The Buena Vista Pregnancy Center serves Buena Vista, Leadville and Fairplay in Colorado. The Pregnancy Center provides free testing for pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases and ultra sounds. Information on parenting, adoption, and abortion counseling are offered as well as group and individual parenting classes on a wide variety of topics throughout the year. Participating in the classes also provides opportunity to earn points which can be used for baby items, City Market or gas gift cards. The Pregnancy Center offers choices and client advocates to assist clients in making informed decisions. The center is open Tuesday 10 am - 4pm, Wednesday 3 pm - 7 pm, and
Thursday 10 am - 4 pm.

Darren Patterson Christian Academy (Also known as DPCA) is the only private christian school in Buena Vista.  Salt & Light partners with the school both financially and with special projects.  Their mission: "To guide students in the knowledge, character, and faith to discover an authentic love of learning and a life of opportunity."

We invite you to come serve Jesus by ministering to the least of these, those outcasts in our prison system disdained by society. These are men bereft of godly male role models of integrity and love, void of men in their lives who consistently show up for them.  This is a call to be a man of integrity, a Godly role model, a man who shows up, mirroring the love of Christ Jesus to those who desperately need to see and know Him.  Would you consider being that man? We work closely with the prison chaplain and volunteer coordinator to assist in needed prison ministries.

The vision of BV HOPE is to eliminate Human Trafficking within Central Colorado.  Our Mission is to prevent human trafficking through education, and to support survivors.  Volunteers of BV HOPE educate local citizens and students to help prevent trafficking and to raise awareness in our community.

It is the aim of this organization to encourage, inspire and affirm families by matching on child, one leader, one horse.  The equine support program is free of charge and offers one on one mentorship for kids.  It is a place of refuge for children and animals allowing families to be restored through the redeeming love of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Volunteers are needed as mentors for support program as well as special projects and events held at the ranch.

Celebrate Recovery was founded in 1991 as a ministry of Saddleback Church by Pastor John and Cheryl Baker. John shared with Senior Pastor Rick Warren a vision God had given him for a new Christ-centered ministry where people could find freedom from their hurts, hang-ups, and habits.

Thousands of churches have started a Celebrate Recovery ministry around the world, and that number continues to grow. Celebrate Recovery is not just growing in churches, but in recovery houses, rescue missions, universities, and prisons around the world. It continues to be a growing global movement.

The need for Celebrate Recovery is unmistakable, being a safe place for people to find freedom from the issues controlling their lives.  ALL are welcome!

Young Life is a Christ centered ministry that helps kids know Christ, grow in their faith and serve Him. The mission is going where kids are and building personal relationships with them.
